| I am not dead, yet.
I used to watch Smallville what seems to me now once upon a time. It started out fine, but took a turn for the worse before sinking to new lows humanity could have never imagined. So at the end of season 2, I swore to never again watch the cheesy and insulting garbage the show had become. No matter how good and interesting it could subsequently turn into, nothing could ever redeem it for me. It was over.
It is now over with Alias for me as well. Ripping off Kill Bill was the last piece of cliché shit I could bare in the sea of lameness the show has been sailing in lately. I’ll miss the good old Jack and of course, Sark.

| I saw Elektra the other day. There was no doubt in my mind that it would be bad. It was. Why did I see it? Going to the cinema is more than going to catch a lame (or good) film. It’s also about whom you go with and the social interaction that comes before, during and after. Elektra plays out like a bad TV movie, rehashing things we have all already seen done better elsewhere. Speaking of TV, Jennifer’s facial expressions make me laugh every time as I remember the ridiculous plot twists that move her in Alias. In Hollywood, it is simply another day that goes by and another bad comic book adaption still making them money. The difference is, this time, I encouraged the trend. Doh!
I have seen good movies too lately. I will possibly never take the time to talk about them, but among the ones I have seen, the one I recommend the most is Kung Fu Hustle. Directed and starting Stephen Chow, it is another of his incredible comedies which is currently breaking all records across Asia.
I’ve also seen The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. The flick is sometimes harshly criticized, but I found it endearing and witty nonetheless.
Scientist: [regarding the shark Zissou is hunting] What would be the scientific purpose of killing it? Steve Zissou: Revenge.
Also, for anyone interested, I started designing a little home on the web for my World of WarCraft guild. (Yes, I still play the game.) Still 4 more levels until I hit 60, and like in A Link to the Past when you get the Master Sword, the real adventure begins then.
| As a kid, I loved to build complex LEGO sets. Using my imagination, the little bricks depicted grand battles on the dunes of forgotten planets, more often than not won by the evil Blacktron. (The original all-in-black ones, their green counter-parts are a bit queer.) Epic quests were undertaken by knights in ancient kingdoms constantly and later, booty was always ready to be looted by ruthless pirates. Arrr...
But today, LEGO sucks. What happened to my beloved sets? I see the company, once so noble, turned upside down and lowering their pristine reputation by producing Star Wars sets and other stupid commercial crap. They no longer use the blocks that have always existed to make something new out of them, but endlessly add new ones that look nothing like LEGO blocks to make their silly new models work. Well, here goes: Fuck you LEGO.
If at least they had broken their stand on non-military models and made something cool instead, something like Mechanized Brick did, but at a lower price... I so want one of them T-74.
I have been spending some time in WoW as I confessed here before. In case any of you who also play the game are wondering how my avatar is doing, you can check out its summary on this profile page. Blackrock, here I come.
University starts today, so whoever goes to UdM might see me around, lurking in a dark corner, watching them. You have been warned!
| Xmas time has been for a lot of years now, a little less festive each year. I never believed in Santa. You could rarely get one by a smart kid whose mother never gave him sugar-coated explanations for anything (no flower and bee story here). One of the things that took me a little while longer to realize was how big of a consumerism orgy Jesus’ birthday had become. He would surely roll in his grave hadn’t he resurrected in another event desecrated by the quest for the holy dollar, Easter.
So the inevitable question often asked nowadays “What did you get this Xmas?” I reply “I got nothing; I receive plenty throughout the year.” I also gave nothing. Screw what Xmas is today.
But one of the reasons this holiday season was even shittier than my carefully calculated algorithm would have lead me to believe, apart small unforeseen variables, is that my cat Rayden was diagnosed with a liver malfunction. In two weeks he went from the happy and smart cat he was to a zombie, too weak to care about almost everything. He died today more peacefully than he probably spent his last few days.
And he will be missed.
In any case, life goes on. En route for 2005! I probably won’t add another entry before then, so let me wish you all a happy new year.

| I will get around to updating eventually. In the meantime, I just had to say that Half-Life 2 is great. While not being revolutionary, it is a satisfying experience well worth the wait. The ending leaves you guessing whether or not Valve themselves know what is going on though.
World of WarCraft is coming out this Tuesday. Is anyone planning on playing this game? Some friends and I have pre-ordered it and have chosen to play Alliance. I have played Horde throughout the closed beta up until the last day of the open one. It is time for a change.
